The deputy in the Turkish Parliament for the Democratic People's Party (HDP), Garo Baylan, called for a new reading of history and what the Armenian people suffered from at the hands of the Ottoman Empire years ago, and the recognition of the genocide that he was subjected to.
In an official memorandum he presented to Parliament today on the occasion of the anniversary of the genocide against the Armenians, Paylan said, “We must call things by their names. The tragic and painful suffering that the Armenian people were subjected to during the First World War was genocide and ethnic cleansing with all the meaning of this word politically, humanely and morally targeting the Armenian people. Whole ”.
Baylan added, "This tragedy caused the death of more than a million Armenians who were living in their lands within the borders of present Turkey, and the rest of them were deported to Syria and Iraq."
Baylan stressed that the time has come for the Turkish state and its parliament to recognize this genocide, apologize to the Armenian people, and prosecute everyone who was responsible for this genocide that no people have been exposed to in history.
