Independiente will try to close a perfect week and consolidate itself in the qualifying positions for the quarterfinals of the Professional Football League Cup when it visits Unión this Saturday.

The match corresponding to the 11th date of group B of the contest will be played at the April 15 stadium from 9 pm, with arbitration by Hernán Mastrángelo and broadcast by Fox Sports Premium.

After losing the classic to Racing,

Rojo

snapped a four-game winless streak by beating Defense and Justice last Sunday, a result that allowed them to return to the quarterfinal positions.

Three days later, he made his right foot debut in the Copa Sudamericana, winning 3-1 in his visit to Guabirá de Bolivia.

With that momentum and the majority of his roster recovered after the coronavirus outbreak, Independiente will go for another win that increases his prospect of playing the knockout phase of the Professional League Cup.

Among those who overcame the disease is coach Julio César Falcioni, who, anyway, did not travel to Santa Fe. That is why the team will be in charge of his assistants, Omar Piccoli and Pedro Monzón (also recovered after contracting covid-19 ).

For this match, Piccoli and Monzón will not have forward Jonathan Menéndez, positive for coronavirus after returning from Bolivia.

In principle, they will make three changes in relation to the premiere in the South American: Lucas Rodríguez by Thomas Ortega, Sebastián Palacios by Andrés Roa and Silvio Romero by Jonathan Herrera, author of a triplet against Guabirá.

For its part, Unión comes from being thrashed 3-0 by Talleres, but in its last home presentation it defeated Boca.

For this match, Juan Manuel Azconzábal will make five changes: Francisco Gerometta for Federico Vera;

Claudio Corvalán by Matias Nani;

Franco Calderón by Brian Blasi;

Mauro Pitton by Nelson Acevedo;

and Cristian Insaurralde by Kevin Zenón.

Independiente occupies the third position in group B with 16 points, the same as added by Boca Juniors, Talleres and Lanús;

while Unión ranks sixth with 14.
