The city of Miesbach is investing a record amount and is going into debt for it.

However, saving alone is not the solution.

A comment on the 2021 budget.

The view of the city's debt development is quite shocking.

Starting from just over 20 million euros so far, Miesbach will break the 30 million mark in the foreseeable future.

How and, above all, in what period of time should it ever be removed again?

The warnings from Paul Fertl and Michael Lechner are obvious from this point of view: The city must be careful not to burden itself too much, because if the mountain of debt gets too big, pretty much nothing will work for many years.

And the zero percent interest situation is probably not endless either.

However, it should not be forgotten that there is a reason for the record spending now on the horizon, and that is the investment backlog in recent years.

Measures were repeatedly postponed - partly because of a lack of offers, partly because of the tight budget situation.

This means that contaminated sites are always overlaying current tasks.

Working through this compulsory program now is the more effective way.

The work has to be done after all - then ideally now with mini interest.

In the long run, however, it must be clear that a consolidation phase will be inevitable in the foreseeable future.

To do this, however, the mandatory program must be processed as far as possible.
