Since the opening in both directions of this deviation expected for 25 years, the regulars of the Boissy crossing and the residents have

The atmosphere has been lighter in Boissy-Saint-Léger for the past few days.

Carried out in two stages, the commissioning of the diversion of the Nationale 19 at the level of this commune of Val-de-Marne was quickly followed by effects, in terms of traffic in the city and noise pollution.

The opening of this new lane, carried out in the Paris-province direction on April 9, a week later in the other direction, was eagerly awaited, both by motorists circulating in the area and by residents.

Until very recently, both had in common that they were faced with heavy traffic for a good part of the day during the week.

They quickly saw that something had changed.

Behind the wheel of his sedan, Fabrice is a relaxed motorist.

"I take the road every day to go to work in Seine-et-Marne, so the traffic jams I know", underlines this inhabitant of Bonneuil-sur-Marne for whom "this deviation is just happiness".

"It's true that things are much better, except when things get stuck upstream of the deviation," smiles Hugo, a young teasing plumber.

Avenue du Général-Leclerc, we finally breathe, and between two passages of trucks, we can now hear birdsong.

These heavy vehicles, here shaking the walls and vibrating the pieces of crockery, are much less numerous to borrow this ex-section of the N19 punctuated by numerous traffic lights.

Residents of the former section of the N19 in heaven

“The difference is obvious, there are fewer people, it feels good,” says Fabienne, a local resident who appreciates not waking up to the sounds of horns.

“It's very relaxing,” also tastes Manuel, 62, then in the process of building a wall, brick after brick, on the other side of the avenue.

The former section of the N19 now freed from thousands of vehicles per day thanks to the diversion, Raymond, a resident of 86 years old, welcomes it.

The positive effect of the deviation on this part of the town, in terms of lower pollution and noise pollution, Régis Charbonnier, the mayor (PS) of Boissy, has been waiting for it for a long time.

He had to arm himself with patience.

"This deviation is the culmination of twenty-five years of combat", he recalls, in front of the old section of the N19, lightened by thousands of vehicles.

Every day before the opening of the new route, he said they were around 42,000 to rush onto this avenue.

"I think that the residual traffic will not exceed 4000 vehicles per day", advances the elected official.

"Day and night", according to bus drivers

Parked at the bus station flanking the RER A station, drivers passing through Avenue du Général-Leclerc every day have found a little peace. "I have eaten caps since I work in the area, so I can tell you that it is day and night, analyzes one of them, happy also for the travelers. People were late for work in the morning because of traffic jams, something had to be done. "

At the head of a real estate study whose windows overlook the avenue, Jacques Garbani hopes to see another project quickly completed, also on the long-established workbench: the redevelopment of this road crossing Boissy and cutting the city in two.

"It will be good for the pleasure of the city, and it will also make it possible to promote the goods which are on the edge of the avenue, underlines it in connoisseur.

But it will be long.

"

Towards a requalification of avenue du Général-Leclerc

“We've been hearing about this for a long time,” notes Raymond, 86, who for forty years hasn't missed anything that's going on in the avenue running under his windows.

"It's very dangerous here, there have been accidents," rewinds the octogenarian.

It must be said that the sidewalks are not very wide… ”

Secure and vegetate the approaches to the avenue, but also "stitch up" the neighborhoods crossed by it by promoting accessibility, improving sanitation ... For Régis Charbonnier, expectations are high and the urgency is there: "There is legitimacy for this to be done now, and not in ten years!

“, He points out, adding that the work could not,“ in the best case ”, begin“ in a year, a year and a half ”.

It is still necessary to obtain all the necessary financing.

"We are still waiting for the State and the region to confirm their financial commitments", recalls Christian Favier, the president (PCF) of the departmental council of Val-de-Marne, involved in this file and without news from the State "since two months ".

The association of riparian towns, meeting in general assembly on April 6, has also reaffirmed its desire to see the completion of the ancillary work for the commissioning of the bypass and its extension to the Ile-de-France.
