Tragic plane crash in Bavaria: THW succeeds in the rescue - two dead now identified

Update from April 23, 3:23 p.m.:

Almost 24 hours later, helpers from the Technical Relief Organization (THW) and the fire brigade managed to salvage the aircraft wreck. They were able to defuse the rescue system that was installed for the parachutes. There was thus no longer any risk of explosion. The THW then succeeded in erecting the aircraft with a special crane. Only then could the emergency services free the two victims from the plane.

In the meantime, more has been announced about the two fatally injured people.

According to the police, it is the 52-year-old pilot of the plane.

According to a police spokeswoman, the man comes from the Kulmbach district.

With him on board was a 51-year-old man from the Upper Palatinate.

Both men died in the accident on Thursday evening.

Only because of the laborious recovery process, their corpses could only be released from the wreck on Friday.

Why the accident happened has still not been conclusively clarified.

A public prosecutor from Bayreuth also gets a picture of the accident and ordered the use of an aircraft accident expert, who will be on site on Friday morning, the police write.
