The State Attorney's Office today (Sunday) filed an indictment against Ofer Koppelman, 57, of Alfei Menashe, for incitement against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The indictment was filed with the approval of Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit.
According to the indictment, which was filed by Adv. Adar Lev of the Cyber Department of the State Attorney's Office in the Kfar Saba Magistrate's Court, Koppelman posted posts on his Facebook page in June and July last year calling for violence and encouraging acts of violence against Netanyahu. Supporting their content by giving likes, shares or comments.
The indictment attributes to Koppelman three publications inciting violence.
In one of them, published on June 21, 2020, he wrote "that the tyrant Bibi! Is playing in our heads again. Inventing a second wave (referring to the 'second wave' of the corona virus outbreak, YDV), will put us at home. Then, quietly, he will carry out the annexation ... Bibi Netanyahu is the worst of our enemies !!!
In another post, published on July 5, Koppelman shared an article he published on the Ynet website that dealt with the prime minister under the headline "There is a king in Israel - and only we are guilty of sabotage."
The post was accompanied by the text: "Only his murder, will return the country to us! Death to Bibi !!!!!!!!!".
The next day, July 6, the defendant wrote: "Once again we are scared ... even if there are three times as many serious patients, there are machines to treat them. But why not get us back on our knees again? It is much easier to control us like that, and again the conclusion The obvious ... death to Bibi Netanyahu !!! (Errors in the original, YD and YA) ".
The indictment further states that Koppelman's publications stemmed from demonstrations last year against the prime minister in a variety of places across the country.
