The Algerian Ministry of Defense announced that it had thwarted a "dangerous plot" targeting the country, which was planned by a separatist movement.
The ministry said in a statement published today on its website that it is a continuation of the security investigations related to the operation carried out in late March of last year and related to the dismantling of a criminal cell made up of affiliates of the separatist movement "MAC" involved in planning to carry out bombings and criminal acts amid marches and popular gatherings in several regions of the country in addition to To seize military weapons and explosives that were intended to implement its criminal plans, the preparation of a dangerous conspiracy targeting the country by this movement was revealed.
The statement indicated that "serious" confessions made by one of the former members of the movement show "the existence of a malicious criminal scheme that relies on carrying out these bombings and then exploiting the images of those operations in their malicious and destructive campaigns as an excuse to beg external interference in the country's internal affairs." Elements belonging to the movement in this scheme received combat training abroad, with funding and support from foreign countries.
The statement stressed that work continues to arrest all those involved in this subversive group that aims to destabilize the security, stability and unity of the country.
