 At least 158 ​​people were arrested this Friday in Santiago de Chile for "violating current health regulations" due to the covid-19 pandemic established in Article 318 of the Penal Code, according to the Carabineros.

In messages published on Twitter, the police institution said that the people were detained in the Plaza Baquedano sector and its surroundings, the central point of social demonstrations in Santiago de Chile since October 2019.

Carabineros did not explain the specific reasons for the arrests.
