Current information on traffic jams and overcrowded parking spaces: This is what the excursion ticker from Bayern Tourismus Marketing should offer.

But at the weekend he wasn't really helpful.

District

- The warm temperatures at the weekend lured the day trippers back to the district in droves and ensured full streets and occupied parking spaces. Actually, the new “Ausflugsticker Bayern” should better direct the flow of visitors (we reported). At least: There is a warning that there is still a lot of snow in the Blue Mountains and that a tour should only be started with the appropriate experience and equipment, which apparently not everyone heeded. Otherwise, the ticker does not seem to be able to contribute much to directing visitors.

For the Tegernsee he reports "Excursion traffic expected at the weekend" and "moderately busy".

The post is from Thursday evening and was not updated until Sunday evening.

Current traffic reports, as announced, are searched in vain on the ausflugsticker.bayern page.

Only the blocking of the B 318 in Moosrain was listed.

Ticker reports are often out of date

Also from Thursday came the assessment that the B 307 on the Schliersee east bank was "underutilized", which the Schliersee should probably regard as an interesting interpretation of the situation.

This contradicts - but at least - the prognosis: "In good weather, heavy excursion traffic expected during the day."

If you looked at the neighbors in Tölzer Land, a different picture emerged.

Several parking spaces were listed as "heavily used" on Sunday, although the reports here were dated Friday morning.

This is more likely to confuse the user than to help rectify excursion behavior.

Automated collection of data is not yet possible

On request, Harald Gmeiner, the board of directors of the local tourism company Alpenregion Tegernsee-Schliersee (ATS), says that the posts are not currently being updated at the weekend - at least not if the forecasts do not suggest an increased need for information. As historical data would show, this is generally not the case in April. “The big wave of excursions is yet to come,” says Gmeiner. Then ATS staff will also be on site if necessary. But that means weekend and manual labor. Because the ticker is still a long way from automated data processing.

"But that is the case all over Bavaria," says the ATS boss.

“I hope that we can set up the first sensors in autumn.” The ticker should then have more up-to-date information about the situation on streets and parking lots.

Gmeiner announced that there should be more timely information on hotspots as early as May.

The better guidance of visitors is a central requirement of the communities, which feel overwhelmed by the sheet metal avalanche.

In addition to the Tegernsee valley, this is especially Schliersee in the district.
