Intensive searches are carried out by members of the Rescue Group in the Damascus Fire Brigade to find the body of the girl who drowned with her brother in the course of the Barada River in the Hama area in Damascus four days ago, where they managed to retrieve the body of her 8-year-old brother yesterday.

Anas al-Ahmad, deputy commander of the Rescue Group in the Damascus Fire Brigade, told SANA that searches have been going on daily since the morning hours to find the body of the 5-year-old girl, indicating that the search and search operations of the river included all its branches from the Hama area down to Marjeh Square and Damascus Citadel.

Al-Ahmad pointed to the difficulty that rescue personnel face due to the force of the water's momentum and its high speed and their forced diving operations in the deep places of the river and the use of ropes and other tools, pointing out that the search operations have ended today and will resume tomorrow morning tracking the river until reaching Ghouta.

Rescue personnel have been searching since last Wednesday for the two children, after they were notified of the Qudsaya area of their drowning while they were swimming in the river in the Hama area.
