Rabbi Eliezer Berland was rushed to the hospital today (Sunday) after feeling unwell during a hearing at his trial in the Jerusalem District Court.

The hearing continued without him, after a doctor summoned to the courtroom ruled that he should be taken to the emergency room, due to chest pain and high blood pressure.

Berland arrived at the courthouse lying on a stretcher, although he did not arrive from a hospital, and was drowsy throughout the hearing.

Berland preferred not to be hospitalized he claimed "so as not to be shaken", and would therefore receive medical treatment at the place of restraint.

During the hearing, Berland's lawyer asked that he not have to attend further court hearings due to "his poor health" and that he was having difficulty sitting.

She claimed he was not fully conscious.

During the hearing, the judge tried to dub Berland, who responded after long minutes.
