For the second year in a row, the ADA team from the Syrian Informatics Association branch in Lattakia achieved first place in the category of ethics of artificial intelligence in the GirlsinAI global competition for adolescents for the year 2021, which was organized by Britain remotely during last March, and its results were released yesterday evening to encourage the new generation to enter the world of technology and intelligence Anthropomorphic.

The winning team includes (Ali Saud, Mays Maqaws, Zainab Youssef, Hazar Saleh and Sarah Abdullah). The idea of the project is to help autistic patients and their families discover their creative tendencies to be encouraged and directed in the right path.

Regarding this achievement, engineer Maryam Jawdat Fayyad, head of the association’s branch in Lattakia and the supervisor of the competition locally, said in a statement to SANA that what distinguishes the competition in its current version is the high number of participants, which exceeded 3 thousand adolescents from more than 29 countries around the world that have a leading position in the field of artificial intelligence. Such as the United States of America, Britain, India, Russia, Romania, Canada, and Australia, and from the Arab countries, Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Palestine.

Fayyad indicated that the selection process of the participants is carried out in accordance with the conditions of the competition in terms of knowledge in the sciences of artificial intelligence, creative thinking, the ability to present, present and defend ideas, and this is what we have done at the local level, as we participated in ten teams with a total of 50 boys and girls, more than half of them are girls.

Fayyad indicated that the result was not surprising, because it is the result of fatigue and effort in investing the energies of youth and adolescents and directing them in line with the latest technologies and sciences of the age.

Engineer Fayyad noted that the result of this year has proven that the path we are taking in the branch of the association in terms of investing in children and adolescents is the right path and from this point of view we confirm the continuation of our activities within the artificial intelligence club and the rest of the clubs while working to expand the capabilities of our logistical clubs so that we can target the largest possible number of children and adolescents. And strengthening Syria’s scientific standing in international forums.

In turn, team leader Ali Saud said that the word ADA is an abbreviation for the name of the application that they designed, expressing its pride in representing Syria and raising its name in an international competition.

Mays Makous and Zainab Youssef talked about their happiness with this experience and the valuable knowledge that they gained through their meeting with supervisors, observers, trainers, and the competition director in Britain, Elena Senel, and those in charge of the Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics in Lattakia.
