The Syrian government has renewed its strong condemnation of the repeated Turkish brutal practices by cutting off drinking water from the Alouk station to the city of Hasakah and its environs, calling on international organizations to pressure the Turkish occupation authorities to stop these practices and to shed light on their disastrous repercussions on the Syrians and to immediately re-pump water from the station.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement today that SANA received a copy of it: The Turkish occupation forces and its mercenaries continue their criminal practices and violations against the Syrian civilians from the people of Hasakah Governorate, as it has once again cut off drinking water from the Alouk station from the city and its suburbs for more than 16 consecutive days for more than a million Syrian despite the critical health situation associated with the Covid 19 pandemic and the need for water to drink and to maintain cleanliness at a time when the region is witnessing a significant rise in temperatures during the blessed month of Ramadan, which severely exacerbates the great suffering of the residents of the city of Hasaka and its environs.
The ministry added: The Syrian government renews its strong condemnation of these repeated brutal Turkish practices, which have exceeded 23 times since October 2019, which violate the provisions of international humanitarian law, especially with regard to the inadmissibility of using water as a weapon of war, which is the intention of the Turkish occupation forces and their mercenaries from terrorist groups. In addition to its violation of the provisions of international human rights law, which guarantees the right of every person to access safe drinking water, as it is one of the basic rights that must be respected by all countries and as a fundamental right that guarantees the right to life and the right to enjoy health, especially in the context of the challenge of addressing the Covid-19 pandemic.
