New details were revealed today (Sunday) about the terrorist who carried out the attack in a suburb of the French capital, linking him to an extremist Islamic ideology.
According to the exposure of the special prosecutor against terrorism in France, Jean-François Ricard, the terrorist listened to Islamic propaganda minutes before carrying out the stabbing attack, in which an administrative worker in the police was killed.
"The assailant, just before committing his actions, watched videos and clips of religious preaching and a call to carry out jihad and martyrdom," Ricard said, adding that the assailant, who is named Jamal G., read "Allah Akbar" during the attack.
The attacker was shot to death by police officers who arrived at the scene while a police employee, a mother of two daughters named Stephanie, died of bleeding within minutes of the stabbing attack.
The attack took place near a police station in the southern suburb of Paris Ramboya.
The attack caused a stir in the country and French President Emmanuel Macron gave a speech saying that France "once again fell victim to a terrorist attack".
The Tunisian embassy in Paris condemned the attack and offered its condolences to the family of the victim.
The Special Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor announced that France is working with the Tunisian authorities to investigate the background of the attacker, who was not a French citizen.
