The Russian Foreign Ministry announced today that measures against non-friendly countries are not acts of aggression on the part of Russia, but measures in response to hostile steps from other countries.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in an interview with Russia 1 channel: The decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin prohibiting the employment of Russians to work in diplomatic missions of "unfriendly countries" came as a response to the aggressive behavior of the West.

"We have always stressed the peaceful nature of our foreign policy, and this approach has been clearly articulated and expressed in numerous speeches and statements," Zakharova added, stressing that "all actions that we consider unfriendly and hostile will never go unanswered."

Zakharova added: The list of unfriendly countries that will be prevented from employing the Russians to work in their diplomatic missions is being formed now, with the United States at the top.

The Russian President signed a decree whereby Russia would allow diplomatic missions of "unfriendly countries" to employ Russians to work in their diplomatic missions.
