In order to help artists regain an audience, the Kolping Family Au has come up with a special exhibition: in local shop windows.

Au / Hallertau

- "Without art and culture it will be quiet!" Is a movement in this extraordinary time. The art and culture industry has hardly had any opportunities for months. Far too many cannot pursue their calling. Concerts do not take place, art exhibitions cannot be held. The Au Kolping Family has therefore been considering solutions for the artists - and for the people at home - since the beginning of the pandemic. In addition to online concerts, virtual lectures and digital cooking events, the “Art in the Window” campaign is now part of the cultural series.

To this end, the five organizers of the Kolping Family asked the Au artists they knew to fill the sometimes empty shop windows with their works of art.

Nine local artists and many volunteers are now responding to this call.

The whole thing is organized mainly by e-mail or telephone in order to avoid personal contact.

Countless e-mails went back and forth in the past few weeks, as it was not that easy to coordinate all those involved.

Because in addition to the nine artists and the five-person work force from the cultural group, five shop window owners take part in the colorful campaign.

The on-site collaboration then takes place in teams, with as much distance as possible and protective masks.

In the past two weeks, old and existing shop windows in the Auer Marktkern have been cleaned and rebuilt.

Each window has its own color theme

In order to make the windows interesting for themselves, each one has its own color motto.

Works belonging to the black color family can be seen in Untere Hauptstrasse 33 at the former men's hairdresser Meier.

The Gabelsberger family also supports the Kolping Family in their project and clears a shop window in their bakery branch on Hauptstrasse for the color green.

The use of the window of the Kreissparkasse Kelheim was "linked to a small condition", according to the organizers.

There was a desire to place the works of the color red in the shop window, matching the brand color of the Sparkasse.

“Of course we happily entered into this nice 'deal',” says the culture group.

Josef Kiefer also makes the shop windows of his former bakery on Obere Hauptstrasse available.

These now show works in the colors yellow and blue.

At Klosterberg 4 you will find the last shop window, in the color scheme "colorful".

There, behind the church, the Marien-Apotheke used to be located and Ms. Tretter was immediately open to this action.

Since at least one work is exhibited by each of the nine artists, a variety of artistic techniques can be viewed.

In addition to pictures in watercolors, you can also see paintings in acrylic and chalk, drawings, collages with colors and paper, printing technology or raku ceramics.

Action is intended to encourage people to take walks

In addition to the works of art, interested parties can also find out more about the résumés of the respective artists. There is also a small map of the way to the other colored windows on each window. In the evening, the windows light up in the respective colors to draw attention to yourself or to invite you to take an evening stroll - of course in front of the exit restrictions.

If you are interested in the works of art or

if you want

to establish contact with the artists, this can be

.

The works include both salable and unsalable pieces.

However, the artists enjoy most when their work is viewed, because that is “the best reward”, according to the artist Dominique Barreteau at the 2019 art exhibition, which the Kolping family also held with him in the Doblmaier farm café.

Other exhibitors include Dominique Barreteau, Heidrun Hee, Gerd Pauler, Daniela Kobl, Walter Kohlmeier, Silvia Eichinger, Walter Kohlmeier, Jutta Weichmann, Gisela Freiberger and Steven Austin.
