The General Company for Engineering Studies of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing obtained the ISO 9001-2015 for quality performance and management certification after its success in passing two test phases according to those in charge.
The director of the company, Dr. Tariq Hussam Al-Din, explained in a statement to SANA that obtaining the ISO certificate came after the completion of the Swiss Approval International audited company, with the presence of the representative of the Syrian General Authority for Standards and Metrology, an intensive review process of the company's work mechanism through certified auditors from the International Standards Organization (ISO), who carried out the stage. The first is to measure the indicators of the management’s commitment to the quality policy and the presence of the infrastructure that achieves the standards, equipment and cadres needed. Then, in the second phase, it is to measure the extent of the management and cadres ’commitment to the approved engineering models and to control the quality of work between the directorates of the company on one side and the company and the parties that want to contract with it on the other hand.
Hossam El Din said, “The General Company for Engineering Studies is the first public engineering company to be awarded the certificate, after it achieved success and satisfactory results that led to the auditors’ recommendation that it is worthy of obtaining the ISO certificate, ”indicating that this certificate enhances the position of the company with those wishing to work with it and contribute to its obtain New domestic and foreign business.
Hussam El-Din explained that the correct application of quality standards contributes to obtaining investment contracts on an ongoing basis, which is the beginning of the road towards providing quality services in accordance with international standards and improving them to the satisfaction of the recipient of the service, pointing out that maintaining the ISO certificate requires continuous work, follow-up, review and external auditing every six months.
The seven principles of quality management according to ISO 9001 of 2015 focus on teamwork, continuous improvement, reliance on resources and continuous planning, and the requirements of the quality management system are summarized by many items, including commitment, organizational tools within the company, responsibilities, powers, setting goals and strategies, with an analysis of steps and risks.
The General Company for Engineering Studies obtaining the certificate comes as part of its endeavor to improve the quality of its work and its performance and competition in local and foreign contracts and tenders.
