Poing - The old carpet has been removed and rolled up: The renovation of the artificial turf in the Poingen sports center is under way.
As reported, the covering will be replaced after 15 years.
The total costs (planning, material, execution) are around 894,000 euros, according to an estimate by the Poing municipal administration.
The new pavement, unlike the old one, will not be filled with granules or sand.
The town hall announced that the renovation should be completed by the end of May.

What happens to the old topping (including granules)?
When asked by our newspaper, Muriel Brodbeck, Managing Director of the City Hall, replied by e-mail: “The flooring will be included in accordance with the invitation to tender and sent to high-quality material recycling in accordance with the law on promoting the circular economy and ensuring environmentally friendly waste management (recycling law).
The disposal certificate is then presented to the administration. "
Recycling costs 23,271 euros net
The old surface, which has now been rolled up and stored in the parking lot, is expected to be removed this week.
“The rolls are also wrapped in foil,” Brodbeck informs.
In this way, a possible leakage of the granulate can be prevented during transport.
According to the town hall, the cost of recycling is 23,271 euros net.
The local council recently awarded the execution work for the replacement of the artificial turf to a specialist company, whose offer price was just under 577,000 euros, according to the local authority.
