US President Biden: Popular thanks to his corona policy

After almost 100 days in office, US President Joe Biden is supported by the majority of his country's citizens.
According to a survey by the Washington Post and Abc News, the 78-year-old is more popular than his predecessor Donald Trump in the same period four years ago - albeit less popular than the previous US presidents.
52 percent agreed with Biden, compared to just 42 percent for Trump at a similar point in time.
In a comparable survey, George W. Bush achieved approval ratings of 63 percent, Barack Obama 69 percent.
Biden is particularly credited with dealing with the corona pandemic.
64 percent of those surveyed support this.
The US is making significant strides in the vaccination campaign every day;
they have just passed the 200 million dose mark.
Although the number of new infections recorded daily is still at a high level, the fears of a fourth wave have so far not come true.
Political fronts remain hardened
On the other hand, Biden's handling of migration on the southern border with Mexico is viewed critically.
53 percent of those questioned expressed their negative opinion in the survey, only 37 percent were in favor of Biden's course.
The new government wants to make migration policy more humane than Trump.
But it is under pressure because the number of arriving migrants and refugees from Latin America has recently risen dramatically.
Biden will be in office for 100 days next Thursday.
In the election campaign, he also promised to unite the deeply divided country.
The political fronts, however, are still hardened.
The Republicans are critical of major projects such as a massive infrastructure program with which Biden wants to stimulate the US economy.
In order to be able to pass their billion dollar Corona stimulus package without the support of the Republicans, the Democrats used a mediation process for budget laws.
The Democrats only have a wafer-thin majority in the Senate - and in the House of Representatives they only have a few seats in the majority.
Republicans could possibly regain the upper hand in next year's congressional elections.
Biden must therefore hurry up with important legislative proposals.
