The planned construction work in the Church of St. Theresa in Hallbergmoos caused a stir three years ago.

Not much has happened since then.

Hallbergmoos

- Pastor Thomas Gruber, head of administration Margit Fasching and church caretaker Jutta Hebbeler informed about the current state of affairs in terms of interior renovation of the Hallbergmoos church.

The interior renovation was decided as early as 2016 and subsequently expanded to include plans for handicapped accessible access and the renovation of the grotto. This caused an uproar when the planned handicapped accessible ramp at the side entrance to the church was crushed and the relocation of the Mariengrotto was seriously considered. Both are now off the table.

The Archbishop's Ordinariate is responsible for the church built by King Ludwig I in 1832, which he had paid for from his private box at the time and is considered an "art treasure". In cooperation with the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments, it was responsible for the renovation. Due to restructuring in the ordinariate and new building rules, there were long delays, the Hallbergmoos church officials explain in retrospect. Because of the corona pandemic, there have been no on-site visits since 2020. Because the responsible clerk of the ordinariate has meanwhile retired, the church foundation St. Theresia has now been entrusted with the further processing.

They have already acted there - and divided the project into three sections. And one point will surely please the believers: The grotto will be overhauled and installed again in the same place. In the meantime, the figure of Mary remains in the church until it returns to its original place. At the side entrance of the church, a suitable barrier-free access is now being considered. In what form is currently not clear.

In order to be able to continue, according to those responsible in Hallbergmoos, one would have to meet on-site with the person in charge of the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments.

However, this is precisely not possible because of the pandemic restrictions.

So it will be a while before details are finalized.

The interior renovation will be delayed for the same reason.

At least one step has already been taken: Because there are no liturgical celebrations due to the corona restrictions, the time was used and the Staller organ (built in 1970) was completely renovated.
