The images are impressive.

Surprising, too, in the context of Covid-19.

We see neither mask nor social distancing ... Several hundred people took part in a "party" this Sunday afternoon in the Buttes-Chaumont park, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, without knowing if it had been organized upstream or if it was spontaneous.

The images therefore show dozens of people, on the heights of the Buttes-Chaumont park, jumping, dancing, rubbing against each other, in front of a slap that plays music at a high level.

The security of the park then intervened, a few minutes before the start of the curfew, to put an end to this gathering.

“In times of Covid, seeing a few people, remembering memories before Covid, it lifts morale a bit…” testified a participant in this gathering.

And this same young man to note it: "Non-existent social distancing, mask at times lowered for those who drink ..." "It really feels good, but it's not very good vis-à-vis the Covid", testified a other participant.

Simon was walking around the Buttes-Chaumont when he arrived in front of the rally, between 5:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.

"It was the golden youth, the sores of the twentieth arrondissement, young and carefree," he says.

“There were dozens of people, a guy with a sound system and people all around swaying their hips,” he continues.

Few had the mask, there was no safe distance.

They felt comfortable being there.

"A cluster in power"

On social media, the images drew criticism. "Our nursing staff have been at their wit's end for over a year, depression after depression and these unconscious people gather in a wild party without masks and they are the ones who will fill the hospitals soon," wrote Laura on Twitter. “Shame on the young people in Paris! », Posted Muguette. "In terms of clusters, you have had a potential since this afternoon at Buttes-Chaumont", writes another Internet user.

Gatherings of more than six people in public spaces have been banned since the end of March in order to fight the Covid-19 epidemic. Since September, wearing a mask is compulsory in the capital. In Paris, the epidemic remains relatively present: according to the latest figures from Public Health France, there are 469.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. It remains to be seen whether this celebration, which brought together hundreds of young people, will have an impact on the situation.
