But who should bear the costs for the charging infrastructure is a matter of dispute.

Neuried - The switch to electric buses seems to be proving to be a problem in Neuried. The building committee recently rejected the assumption of costs for the necessary charging infrastructure for using line 261 with emission-free buses. The reason given by the negative municipal councils of the SPD, the Greens and the BZN parliamentary group: The assumption of the costs by the municipality contradicts the statements in the local transport plan. This would have to be done by the district, said the group chairman of the Neurieder Grünen, Corinna Pflästerer, in an open letter to District Administrator Christoph Göbel. "We expressly welcome the goal of electrifying all suitable MVV regional bus routes in the district," says the letter. The operation of the bus routes would have to be financed by the district and the operation would also include the provision of the required charging station.

According to the administration, this should be installed at the Hainbuchenring stop. The costs for the community would be around 200,000 euros. A sum that cannot be squeezed into a tight budget at the moment, says Pflästerer. "Passing on some of the costs to the municipalities means that financially weak municipalities, such as Neuried, find themselves in a predicament." The Greens are therefore demanding that the district assume the total costs for electrification, including the charging infrastructure.

The CSU parliamentary group of the Neurieder municipal council sees it a little differently. This would like the introduction of the electric buses as "noticeable relief for the environment" and for this a contribution must be made from the community budget. "Everyone in Neuried experiences how the entire community is polluted with pollutants and noise through the use of diesel buses," said CSU chairwoman Marianne Hellhuber in a press release. Due to the wrong decision made by the building committee in their eyes, the switch to emission-free bus traffic is now threatening to overturn. The rejection is incomprehensible, because the barrier-free expansion of two stops in town would have cost significantly more money than the 200,000 euros now being discussed. The CSU parliamentary group accuses the remaining parliamentary groups of the building committee for being "petty".The municipal council will decide at its meeting on Tuesday, April 27th, whether there will be electric buses in Neuried. It starts at 7 p.m. in the multi-purpose hall, Am Haderner Winkel 2.
