Too much motorized leisure traffic: Türkenfeld blocks a number of dirt roads

Quads that race along dirt roads so that the gravel splatters - all that should be a thing of the past in Türkenfeld.

The community closes the majority of its field and corridor roads to motorized leisure traffic.

Türkenfeld -

If you want to enjoy the landscape around Türkenfeld, you should do so in the future on foot or by bike.

Parking spaces are shown at suitable locations.

The community had already closed a particularly heavily frequented dirt road last year.

Now there are about 20 more around Türkenfeld and Zankenhausen.

The concept comes from the responsible speakers Veronica Winkler (CSU / Transport), Irmgard Meißner (Greens / Nature and Environment) and Siegfried Schneller (Free Voters / Streets and Paths) and was developed with the municipal working group on footpaths / cycle paths / field paths and representatives of the farmers' association Voted.

Culture of prohibition?

One does not want to establish a culture of prohibition in leisure behavior, said Mayor Emanuel Staffler (CSU).

"But in some areas there is no reason to drive or park at the feeding trough of the game reserve." In future, day trippers will find regulated parking facilities, for example on the edge of the orchard on Wolfgasse and in the vicinity of Schöneberg and Steingassenberg.

Construction work is not required for this.

All that is planned is corresponding signage as well as mowing and, where necessary, gravel.

In addition, the existing parking lot at the school can be used as a starting point for hikes.

Not in 1970 anymore

Jürgen Brix (Greens) expressed concerns. After the recently decided introduction of Tempo 30 on local roads, the planned closure of dirt roads means even more signs and even more encroachments on the individual's right to self-determination. The population has now risen and, as a result, so has leisure traffic. “Doesn't the community have to tolerate that we are no longer living in 1970?” Said Brix. In addition, after all, Türkenfeld is not a real tourist attraction. “We are not Tegernsee or Schliersee.” A step-by-step approach is better. For the time being, according to Brix, only those dirt roads should be closed that represent a direct connection to the Schöneberg.

He was outvoted by all other council members.

The dirt roads are simply not made for motorized traffic, emphasized his group colleague Irmgard Meißner.

Bianca Epp (Free Voters) recalled the gravel that had been sprayed into the meadows.

“That is a massive problem for agriculture.” And Mayor Staffler no longer wants to find complaint e-mails about inconsiderate day trippers in his inbox every Monday morning.

The blocks are now being implemented.

The only exceptions are residents and agricultural and forestry vehicles.
