President Alberto Fernández publicly paid tribute to the recently deceased Mario Meoni on Monday and stated that

"these are very difficult times that cannot be resolved by doing politics

.

"

During a ceremony in Merlo, the president asked to

"work together"

and forget "for a while the political differences".

He said it in an act together with the governor Axel Kicillof, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa, and the mayor of Merlo, Gustavo Menéndez, for the launch of the "Safe Stops" program, which aims to install 4,000 shelters with devices security at bus stops in 43 municipalities of the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires.

It was held three days after the death of Meoni as a tribute to the work of the Minister of Transport who died on Friday night in an accident with his car on Route 7.

Before the words of the head of state, an emotional video of the official was projected during his inauguration as minister and of various acts of his portfolio, accompanied by Massa, who also dedicated some emotional words to him.

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, who fired Meoni with a heartbreaking letter that he published on social networks, broke several times when pronouncing his words.

"A leader, a minister, a father, a husband

did not leave

.

I am sure that what left was a good guy

, a good person and that as he said he had to be a guy with responsibilities, but he never wanted to stop being a common guy, "Massa recalled.

The governor of the province of Buenos Aires also paid tribute to the deceased official and said that the best way to honor him is to continue working.

For this reason, together with suburban mayors, they signed the agreement to carry out 4,000 stops in 43 Buenos Aires municipalities, which will have WiFi, a 360 ° camera to see in real time what is happening in the place and its surroundings;

anti-panic button to notify local authorities;

intercom with a monitoring center for emergencies, and integrated loudspeaker system.

In the end, the President recalled that this safe stop program was an obsession of the late Transport Minister, who was concerned about insecurity.

"Mario was thinking about the security problem in Greater Buenos Aires

and that is why he participated with us not only in the funds that we gave to the Province so that he could complete the purchase of mobile phones that we see here in Merlo, but that we have seen in Lomas de Zamora, La Matanza, Almirante Brown. A joint effort by a President and a governor who are concerned about solving the problems for Argentines, "he said.

Finally, he took the opportunity to send a message to the leaders of the opposition, in the midst of the dispute and the tension over the restriction measures to stop the contagion of the second wave of coronavirus.

"We have to be working together, that's what we have to do and forget about the rest. Because

no political situation authorizes us to stop valuing life

, no situation authorizes us not to value the health of Argentines," reflected the president.
