An 88-year-old man shot his 76-year-old wife in the cheek and then committed suicide in the Mendoza department of Las Heras, police sources reported Monday.

, everything happened on Sunday in a house located on Calle 25 de Mayo al 1800.
According to spokesmen, Joaquín Azcurra shot his wife, Calletana Godoy, in the right cheekbone.
Later, with the same weapon, he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.
The incident was discovered by
a daughter of the couple who slept in the house
and woke up upon hearing the detonations.
The woman called 911 and an ambulance from the Coordinated Emergency Service (SEC) took Godoy to the Central Hospital of the provincial capital, where she was hospitalized this Monday.
