Starnberg

- In an accident with a hit and run on the A94 between Starnberg and Munich, three people were slightly injured on Sunday, April 25, 2021.

As reported by the Weilheim traffic police inspection, a 33-year-old woman was driving her white Audi A4 from Starnberg towards Munich in the early evening around 7.15 p.m.

Also in the Munich woman's car were her 39-year-old husband in the passenger seat and the couple's three-year-old son, who was sitting in the back seat in a child seat.

Starnberg: accident escape on the autobahn - young family from Munich injured

According to the current state of investigation, a white VW Touareg drove in front of the family's Audi at the motorway triangle at the level of the exit to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. When another black Audi suddenly approached the two vehicles from behind, they both switched to the right-hand lane to allow the faster Audi driver to overtake. The 33-year-old then switched back to the left lane in the white A4 to overtake the Touareg, which was still driving in front of her.

Without paying attention to the family's Audi, however, the driver of the Touareg suddenly pulled back to the left.

Apparently he hadn't noticed the 33-year-old's intended overtaking maneuver.

In order to avoid a collision, the Munich woman dodged to the left with her A4.

There the car hit the central barrier.

The Audi was then thrown back and forth between the guardrails several times.

The driver and her husband and son were brought to the Starnberg hospital as a precautionary measure after the rescue services arrived.

As far as we know, all three were slightly injured.

The driver of the Touraeg, who had caused the accident with his careless change of lane, and his co-driver left the scene of the accident immediately after the incident, without stopping or trying to take care of the family in the accident. As the injured Munich woman said to the police, the driver of the black Audi, who had previously overtaken the two vehicles, stopped briefly after the accident at a distance, but then also drove on. In addition to the Touareg drivers who fled the accident, the police are now looking for the Audi driver as an important witness.

The A4 of the Munich family suffered a total loss of approx. 12,000 euros in the accident, the remaining damage amounts to around 4,000 euros.

In addition to the investigators from the motorway police, around 25 emergency services from the Starnberg and Percha fire brigades and the motorway maintenance department were on duty.
