A brutal attack on a 65-year-old man occurred on the outskirts of the 12 de Julio neighborhood of Córdoba, when a criminal
beat him until he broke his leg
because he had no money to steal him.
According to the Cordovan channel
El Doce
, the victim's name is
Gregorio
and he is a well-known seamstress in the area who lives in poverty and earns only
10,000 pesos per month
.
Last Sunday, when he was going to church and while he was waiting for the bus, a young thief surprised him and asked for his phone number.
As he did not have a cell phone (he had left it at home charging) and had only a few pesos, the thief
began to beat him
and ended up hurting him because of the blows he gave him.
"Plata did not have much, but anyway,
that they do this to one is not fair,
" Gregorio lamented, prostrate from his bed in an interview with El Doce in his precarious home.
"This happens every day to children and women leaving the neighborhood. It is not fair," he reiterated.
"A lot of neighbors have been mugged,
practically every day,
" the man continued.
He said that criminals do not enter the neighborhood because "we grabbed them and hung them on the pole."
"They are afraid of us, that's why they wait for us outside," he shot.
"I have a
broken tibia and fibula
. Thank goodness the police came quickly, because if it weren't for the police: How long would I have been lying? I have a while," the man cried.
"The whole neighborhood knows me. They come and treat me, I am grateful. I want them to get nails to be able to do the operation.
I do not feel well because I have many blows,
" he added.
His acquaintances hope that he will receive more care in a hospital, because they told him that he could only go on a shift in August.
"He needs someone to see him, they told him he needs nails and they did X-ray but they
did not give him painkillers,
" reported a neighbor who was accompanying him.
