In one of the houses where Diego Maradona spent the last months of his life there were

alcoholic beverages

.

This was confirmed by four prison agents who worked as his custodians in the house in the Brandsen country where he resided until November 2020, when he was operated on.

Judicial sources reported that Julio César Coria, Horacio David Ledesma, Aníbal Domínguez and Julio Soria are the four security employees who alternate to guard the Gymnastics DT 24 hours a day and that between Thursday and Friday of last week they were summoned to testify as witnesses before the San Isidro prosecutors who carry out the investigation.

According to the sources, the four are active agents of the Federal Penitentiary Service (SPF), but according to what they explained in their testimonies they had been hired as personal custodians of Maradona by an ex-penitentiary of the same force as them who is the head of safety of the company "Speed", the energy drink owned by the lawyer Victor Stinfale.

Only Coria had already declared in the file on November 25, the day of the ex-footballer's death, because he was the custodian who was present and even participated in the resuscitation attempt

The spokespersons explained that on this occasion the prosecutors' questions revolved around health, care and day-to-day life in the months prior to Maradona's death.

"The four recognized that

there was alcohol when Maradona lived in the Campos de Roca I neighborhood

, in Brandsen. Specifically, they talked about

beer and wine,

" a judicial source told Télam.

They also explained that they all reported Maradona's personal assistant,

Maximiliano Pomargo

, and his brother-in-law, the lawyer

Matías Morla

.

The custodians ratified what the team of investigators coordinated by the San Isidro attorney general, John Broyad, and made up of his deputies Patricio Ferrari and Cosme Iribarren, and the Benavídez prosecutor, Laura Capra, had already credited with other witnesses and even with Telephone messages already analyzed: that in Campos de Roca, where Maradona lived between July and early November 2020, the "10" not only had access to alcohol, but also to

marijuana and psychotropic drugs

.

One of the guards, Domínguez, also agreed to give the prosecutors his cell phone so they can access the messaging service.

Another witness who testified at the end of last week was Diego Eyharchet, the traumatologist who in July 2019 operated on Maradona's right knee and told prosecutors that he believed that the Gymnastics coach

needed neurological follow-up

.

Meanwhile, sources in the case revealed to Télam that by the end of this week or more likely next Monday, the 20 official and party experts who analyzed the circumstances surrounding the death of Maradona, will deliver the final report of the medical board.

Last April 19 was the last meeting via Zoom held by the experts summoned by the prosecutors and presented by the complaints and defenses, who since March 8 analyzed and discussed the 24 points of expertise requested by the prosecutors.

"These days we are working on the final drafting of the medical-legal considerations and the conclusions. And it only remains for each of the experts to sign in agreement or in disagreement," another of the sources of the investigation consulted told Telam.

Everything indicates that the expert report will complicate the procedural situation of the main defendants in the case.

Five months after death, the investigators believe that in the two weeks that he lived in the San Andrés de Tigre neighborhood, Maradona did not have adequate medical controls, the therapeutic companions were suspended for his addiction to alcohol and despite the fact that everyone saw him In his last days swollen and with fluid retention - the autopsy mentioned an acute lung edema as one of the causes of death - his doctors ignored those calls for attention.

The San Isidro prosecutors consider the possibility not only of adding new defendants from Maradona's non-medical environment, but also of

aggravating the accusation

and going from a "wrongful death" due to medical negligence to a

"homicide with eventual intent"

, that is, when the author had to represent that his actions could cause a death and did nothing to prevent it.

The radical difference is the amount of the penalty, since with the current classification it is expected from 1 to 5 years in prison, but with the second option, the range rises to between

8 and 25 years

, a crime that cannot be released.

The seven defendants who currently have the cause are the neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque (39);

the psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov (35);

the psychologist Carlos Ángel "Charly" Díaz (29);

the nurses Dahiana Gisela Madrid (36) and Ricardo Omar Almirón (37);

Nancy Forlini, the doctor who coordinated home hospitalization for the prepaid Swiss Medical, (52);

and the coordinator of the nurses, Mariano Perroni (40).
