The driver of a Grenoble tram has tested positive for cannabis and taken into custody after a serious accident with a pedestrian, the Grenoble prosecutor announced on Monday.

On Monday around noon, a pedestrian was run over while "
he was running across the tracks
" near a tram stop in the north of the city, police said earlier.
The pedestrian, a 28-year-old man, was not seen entering the lanes reserved by the tram driver, according to the same source.
The young man, hit in the head and pelvis, was seriously injured.
He was evacuated to the city hospital with his vital prognosis engaged, said firefighters.
The driver, a 54-year-old man according to the regional daily Dauphiné Libéré, tested negative for alcohol but positive for cannabis, and was taken into police custody on Monday evening, announced Eric Vaillant, prosecutor of the republic of Grenoble.
