Convicted of a homicide, he left jail on Monday after serving a 12-year sentence.
His brother was in charge of fetching him from the Piñero prison, located 15 kilometers southwest of Rosario.
The two men were traveling in a Renault Kangoo van, which broke down shortly after leaving.
They asked a friend for help, who moved from Villa Gobernador Gálvez to tow them with her Volkswagen Fox.
They were on their way to Rosario when a Toyota Hilux truck
ambushed them
at kilometer 6 of provincial route 14, near the town of Soldini.
They were two men who fired, in
a typical hitman attack
, at least a dozen times.
The woman who had come to help them died at the scene.
She was identified as
Vanesa Hernández
, 35 years old.
The 26-year-old brother of the detainee suffered
a gunshot wound in the rib area
and was referred to the Clemente Alvarez Emergency Hospital (Heca), in Rosario.
The Kangoo in which the man who regained his freedom was traveling broke down.

The prosecutor Gastón Avila, in charge of the investigation, assured that "the person who was killed was not the object of the attack."
According to the first reports he obtained, the victim had no criminal record.
“A viable hypothesis is that they have come to attack him (the man who left prison) the day he just regains his freedom after twelve years.
If so, we must see
what the motive would be
and for what reason they came to attack him ”, added Avila.
According to the experts, the shots were fired only from the Hilux truck, which was later
abandoned and set
on
fire
in Rosario.
The hitmen would be two, according to the testimony that the man who left jail and his wounded brother could give.
However, due to the speed with which the murderers acted, and because the woman who was murdered lost control and ended up falling to the shoulder, they were unable to provide data to identify them.
“I understand that he possibly had the information that today he was recovering his freedom and that they were going to have to come and get him.
The time when freedom is recovered is always the same.
It was a matter of waiting for him and choosing the moment to attack him ”, added the prosecutor in the case.
