British Prime Minister Boris Johnson denied today (Monday) that he said he would rather see a pile of "thousands of bodies" than impose a third blockade to curb the Corona virus, according to a Daily Mail report. This is in addition to some other problematic reports from recent times, including questions about the sources of funding for his official residence.

According to the latest report in the Daily Mail, which quoted anonymous sources, Johnson said at a meeting in his office last October, shortly after agreeing to impose a second closure: "There are no more armed closures, that the bodies will be piled in their thousands." The death toll in the UK is the fifth highest in the world, with 127,681 deaths, after the United States, Brazil, Mexico and India.

Johnson said in his denial of the report that the government had to ensure that the closures worked, "and they worked," but the opposition demanded answers. "If he said these things, he must explain it," said Labor chairman Kir Starmer, who said he was shocked by the report.

Johnson did impose a third closure, in January, but his critics said he could have been avoided if he had listened to the advice of his senior ministers to tighten the second closure.

This month the kingdom began to return to a partial routine, as the vaccination campaign progressed.

Last week, Johnson's bureau accused former chief adviser Dominic Cummings as a source of leaks against him. Cummings denied that he was the source and described Johnson as incompetent and dishonest, in comments that could harm the conservative prime minister.

Johnson and Cummings were formerly close allies, working closely during the successful campaign to promote retirement from the EU ahead of the 2016 referendum. Cummings was also Johnson's adviser throughout the 2019 election campaign, which brought the Conservatives their largest parliamentary majority since 1987, but he left office late last year after it was revealed he had violated Corona's restrictions himself.

Cummings claimed the prime minister had planned for donors to secretly pay for the refurbishment of his residence at 10 Downing Street, adding that it was "immoral, stupid, perhaps illegal - and almost certainly a violation of the rules of proper disclosure of political donations".

From the closest advisor to a sharp critic.

Defense Secretary Ben Wallace today declined to confirm or deny whether Johnson received an undeclared loan from political donors for the renovation of the residence.

"What matters now is that Johnson bears the costs himself."

"Do I think the prime minister is dirty? No, I am not," he told the BBC radio station.
