In a statement to SANA, a member of the Board of Directors of the Syrian Astronomical Society, Nabil Al-Bish, confirmed that the entire planet is on a date during the blessed month of Ramadan with the "giant pink moon" in full appearance on the 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th of April, indicating that it is the first giant moon. Al-Bish pointed out that it is possible from anywhere in the world to observe the full moon with its wonderful sunrise from dusk to dawn, indicating that it was called the pink full moon because it is associated with the emergence of pink algae where the pink color does not apply to it except in a case called the “blood moon” which is a phenomenon. The lunar eclipse, in which its color changes, during which we see the sun, earth and moon stacked in a straight line, and the moon will be in the shadow of the earth, and it will last for a short period and then return to its natural color.

Al-Bish explained that one of the metaphorical names of the giant pink moon in the northern hemisphere is the “white moon” because it coincides with Easter or “the moon of flowers” ​​due to its association with the spring season and the “moon of madness” because of the myths circulating while Arab astronomers agree to call it “the Badr of Roses.”

Al-Bish pointed out that the giant pink moon is approaching the peak of its perigee tomorrow from the planet Earth, estimated at 615.357 km, and that the best time to enjoy its view is at its sunrise directly close to the horizon and at the horizon of its sunset also because when it is lower at the two horizons it appears larger and brighter with a phenomenon called “the moon illusion That makes a difference more than just being a little closer to the ground.

It is mentioned that the phenomenon of the gigantic full moon is the opposite of the dwarf full moon, where the moon is called a "gigantic moon" when it reaches the position of the full moon and its time is near the perihelion point "closest to the earth" while it is called a "dwarf full moon" when it reaches the position of the full moon and its time is near The apogee point is "the farthest point from the earth" and therefore the change in the apparent size of the moon depends on the distance of the moon or its proximity to the earth.
