In the second episode of
Speaking ... with Warkentin
,
Gabriela Warkentin speaking with writer and activist Alma Delia Murillo.
The author of
Inhabited Nights
, who just finished a new novel, reflects on the moment the feminist movement is going through in Mexico despite the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. "The pandemic stopped the expression of public spaces, in the street, but not that of this agglutinating, immense, transversal movement to which all women are responding," she says. The author advocates placing emotions at the center of public debate to fight abuse. “It is very painful to say they raped me and I was six years old. You have to name it to get the emotion out. I know that justice is not this public arena where we all point, but sometimes shame is the only cost that stalkers can pay ”.
Warkentin, a journalist for W Radio, opens with this podcast a series of conversations with social actors in the country to understand the current state of tension and glimpse paths of détente.
