Still, there were a few bright spots.

Bad Tölz

- Neither Easter nor Christmas market, no Leonhardi trip, no rose days and no autumn magic: Bad Tölz had to cancel a lot of traditional dates last year due to the corona.

"That was the most terrible event year I have ever experienced," summed up the deputy spa director Susanne Frey-Allgaier in the latest meeting of the city council's spa committee.

Nevertheless, they still offered “astonishingly many”, such as 65 concerts in the “City with that special touch” series and the new pop-up concerts that are to continue to take place.

In addition, weekly and farmers' markets could take place throughout the year without restrictions, and there was also a small autumn market on Jungmayrplatz with at least one Sunday shopping.

The Thomas Mann Festival and the digital advent calendar on the Isar Bridge also took place.

In connection with the opening of the Thomas-Mann-Weg in 2019, there is also the reading oasis at the Klammerweiher.

There a telephone booth was converted into a book booth.

Visitors can borrow books and store them themselves.

Most of the package deals had to be canceled

Last year, the vegan break “Tölzer Veg”, which has been offered for seven years, had to be postponed from spring to October.

Within one month, 57 events from meatless cooking classes to yoga took place.

There were also restrictions on the city tours; instead of 323 (in 2019), only 194 took place in the previous year.

Even package deals, such as for the Leonhardi trip and ice hockey games, had to be canceled up to 50.

The tiled stove builders who have been meeting in Bad Tölz for years were still lucky.

They were the last to meet in the Kurhaus in February, after which "there was nothing more", as Frey-Allgaier said.

Significant decrease in the guest card

Since the beginning of 2019, the RVO bus routes to Tegernsee, Lenggries or Kochel, for example, can also be used free of charge with the spa and guest card. Here, too, there was a significant decrease in 2020, with the (few) guests avoiding public transport, probably also for fear of contamination. Changes also took place in the BKK Active Weeks, which were previously carried out in cooperation with the Hirsch Sport Studio. After the closure of the Center for Health and Sport on Bockschützstrasse, the health promotion programs were relocated to the Vitalzentrum on Ludwigstrasse. In 2020 the number of participants decreased by more than 43 percent to 354.

The city museum, which was closed from mid-March to May 11th in 2020 and then again from November 1st, was also included in the report.

Nevertheless, the new concept was pushed ahead under high pressure, said Frei-Allgaier.

There were four exhibitions, including one by vintner-draftsman Hans Reiser.

There were only four guided tours and the popular weddings in the historic meeting room were only offered four times.

The spa library, which was unable to hold any events with the exception of the open day, also suffered from the pandemic.
