The historic meeting room in the district office is beautiful - but technically not fit. That should change now. And you are aiming for something very special.

The historic meeting room in the district office is beautiful - but technically not fit.

That should change now.

And you are aiming for something very special.

Freising

- The possibility of offering sound-image transmissions of meetings of the Freising district councils in Corona times creates a "certain pressure to act" for the district administration, says District Administrator Helmut Petz. In addition, the large conference room in the district office offers a wonderful historical ambience, but technically it is really not up to date. For this reason, 150,000 euros were earmarked for the modernization of the conference rooms during the budget discussions for this year. Now the administration wanted a vote from the district councils as to whether they should also take care of new furniture that meets the requirements. That was rejected, but another variant came into play for the first time: the top floor of the former staff building in the stone barracks, which the district, as is well known, has acquired and is to be expanded and converted into the second headquarters of the administration, could become the new meeting room.

The comfortable chairs have to stay!

Head of the office, Jürgen Liebl, explained that the existing furniture in the large conference room posed problems for the administration, because conversions for other events were extremely time-consuming.

There are other solutions that would make it easier to remove tables and chairs, for example.

But the district councils did not play along: Toni Wollschläger (Greens) said the existing furniture was comfortable and should not be replaced in the interests of sustainability.

Karl Ecker (FW) emphasized that a quick solution is needed.

District Administrator Petz agreed: The new concept had to be in place within a month.

FW district councilor Rainer Schneider argued that what the administration chooses as a technical solution should not be approved again by the district committee and district council, but that the district administrator should be authorized to place the order.

"Otherwise it will take until September".

Dollinger: The pandemic will be "over" in ten weeks anyway

Schneider and Petz 'FW colleague Josef Dollinger had a completely different opinion: In ten weeks, the pandemic would be over because of the vaccination campaigns.

He does not see the fact that one now wants to do something for virtual meetings on the fly.

He is therefore fundamentally against both technically modernizing the conference room and against thinking of new furniture.

"I vote against it." Dollinger was not alone in this.

The second no came from AfD district councilor Gerhard-Michael Welter in the vote that followed Schneider's proposal.

District Councilor Tobias Weiskopf is expecting something really big

In the course of the discussion, Schneider brought the idea into play as a long-term variant of whether the "gigantic and architecturally exciting" attic of the future second location of the district administration in Stein-Park could not be used as a meeting room. As Florian Plajer, the head of the civil engineering and building construction department in the district office, reported that 80 jobs have been created and planned according to the temporary use concept decided in November. Petz said setting up the vaccination center had messed up plans for interim use. In the summer, however, the Contact Tracing Team will track the corona infections and move from the containers at the health department to the former staff building. In addition, Petz promisedthat the building will be inspected together with the district councils as soon as the situation permits.

FDP District Councilor Tobias Weiskopf expects very big things once the second location of the District Office is fully operational: “We need a highlight.

I want us to become the most citizen-friendly district office in Germany. "
