In the midst of a return to routine: the weaker sections find it difficult to return to the cycle of employment

Data from the Employment Service show that in March, a month after leaving the third quarantine, 300,000 unemployed returned to work.

However, job seekers from the lower clusters in society, including Arabs and young people earning low wages, are forced to stay at home.

"Without government effort, the weaker sections will be in prolonged unemployment"

More than 300,000 unemployed returned to the labor force during the last month of March, according to data from the Employment Service published today (Tuesday).

The data show that job seekers from the lower clusters in society, including Arab society, have more difficulty returning to the labor force.

During April, about two months since leaving the third quarantine, the Israeli economy is in the midst of a process of returning to routine as most sectors of the economy reopen.

While hundreds of thousands have already returned to slavery, employment service data show that the rate of return to work is in positive proportion to the wage level - the more earning a job requires, the higher the rate of return to work and vice versa.

The number of Arab job seekers during March fell below the average rate - only 7% compared to 15%.

In addition, the number of ultra-Orthodox job seekers decreased by 14%, in light of the fact that many of them are women working in the education, teaching and training professions.

Compared to the ultra-Orthodox and Arab job seekers, the number of non-ultra-Orthodox Jewish claimants decreased by 18% and the number of claimants defined as "other" decreased by 20%.

The Employment Service report also shows that the young population is greatly affected by the incentives to return to the labor force: the closer the unemployment benefit is to the wage the worker can earn in the market, thus avoiding returning to work and preferring to stay at home.

The employment service warned that job seekers may remain unemployed as they will be left without an employer and will not have a job to return to.

"The most vulnerable populations are the weaker sections."

Since the exit from the third quarantine, there has been a decrease in the percentage of job seekers from all the clusters in the company: in the high clusters there was a decrease of 16%, in the intermediate clusters there was a decrease of 18%,

This phenomenon was also recorded at the exit from the previous closures.

The employment bureau claims that "the data again show that in the long run those who are more affected by the employment crisis are the low-wage earners."

The director general of the employment service, Rami Graur, said that "the most vulnerable populations are the weaker sections." "Such as a barrier to returning to work, job seekers from the weaker classes may be in prolonged unemployment, and as a result it will be very difficult to return to the work cycle."
