The construction work for the extension of the Fischer's senior center on Haager Strasse in Erding is in progress.
By the end of 2022, the first part of a master plan will be a three-story building with 30 assisted living apartments.
District administrator and foundation chairman Martin Bayerstorfer and architect Richard Falterer have now laid the foundation stone.
Erding - The Fischer's Foundation is investing around 4.8 million euros in the project. 18 single apartments and twelve for couples will be realized. A total of around 35 million euros will be invested in the coming years. A two-storey underground car park and another striking building with an inner courtyard that is architecturally based on the neighboring building are also planned. A dementia ward protected from runaway and day care are to be housed here. Last but not least, the master plan contains employee apartments.
At the ceremony, Bayerstorfer emphasized that the classic extended family hardly existed any more.
In assisted living - there will then be 78 units - the seniors could still be as independent as possible.
Day care enables people to stay at home and still be looked after.
Ten years ago it was the first facility of its kind in the district.
With the expansion, the foundation idea of 1891 is implemented - "to work for the benefit of the poor in the city and district of Erding".
Mayor Max Gotz spoke of a "good day for Erding".
It is an "investment in the heart of the city".
