As of this Tuesday, April 27, a series of measures come into force in Paraguay that aim to contain the advance of the pandemic.

The day before, 102 deaths associated with covid-19 were registered, a daily record number.

The total number of infections amounts to 269,353 and deaths were 6,002, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

By means of a decree, the government established that in cities where they are at “red level”, the inhabitants will be able to circulate from 5 in the morning until 8 at night.

In the rest of the territory, the allowed circulation hours will be from 5 in the morning until 11:59 at night.

Depending on the level of alert, the provisions regulate commerce, sports and social activities, among others.

The rule will be in effect until May 10.

The Vice Minister of Comprehensive Health Care and Social Welfare, Hernán Martínez, expressed his concern about the "critical situation" the country is going through and that, according to the health portfolio, is reflected in the number of daily infections and the patients that require hospitalization in intensive care units.

Martínez urged the population to "become aware" to reduce the impact of the pandemic, especially in hospitals.

"If we continue like this, we are going to have a high number of hospitalizations and deaths, even of patients who are waiting for a place in intensive care," he warned.
