Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that President Vladimir Putin will not discuss with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky the conflict in eastern Ukraine and that the talks will be limited to problems in bilateral relations.
Sputnik news agency quoted Peskov as saying today: "The president has made clear his position on the dialogue initiative and the potential content of such a dialogue so that it can only relate to the problems of bilateral relations and cannot proceed from the goal of finding a settlement to the conflict in southeast Ukraine."
"The best step for Kiev is to conduct a dialogue with the Lugansk and Donetsk republics and implement the Minsk agreements," he added.
Earlier, Zelensky invited the Russian president to meet "anywhere in the Donbas," while Putin announced that if Zelensky wanted to restore relations with Russia, Moscow would welcome him.
