The English Premier League elected as its inaugural members of the league's Hall of Fame the iconic forwards Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry.
The Premier League made the announcement on Monday, when it unveiled 23 candidates for six spots on the exclusive list of the best in league history.
The Premier League Hall of Fame recognizes and celebrates the exceptional skill and talent of the people who have played in the competition since its inception in 1992. This new Hall of Fame has been created to be considered the highest individual honor bestowed to the league players.

The Premier League chose these two great scorers for their brilliant careers as forwards.
Alan Shearer, the English Premier League scorer
English forward Alan Shearer was inducted into the Hall of Fame as the league's all-time leading scorer, with a mark of 260 goals in 14 Premier League seasons.
The forward was the first player to reach 100 Premier League goals, scoring 112 goals in just 138 games for Blackburn Rovers, as well as winning the title with them in the 1994/95 season.

Following a transfer to Newcastle United in 1996, Shearer scored 148 goals in 303 Premier League games over a 10-season span for the Magpies.
The three-time Golden Boot winner remains the only player to have reached 100 goals in the competition for two different clubs.
The Frenchman who conquered England
In the case of Frenchman Thierry Henry, his numbers are also the reason for his election to the Hall of Fame as an inaugural member.
Henry won the Golden Boot four times and scored 175 Premier League goals in 258 games for Arsenal, a club record.
He scored more than 20 Premier League goals in five consecutive seasons between the 2001/02 and 2005/06 seasons.
Following his move to Arsenal in 1999 from Juventus, Henry won the Premier League title twice and was a key member of the team known as 'The Invincibles', which remained undefeated during the title-winning campaign. 2003/04.
Aside from his quality as a forward, Henry contributed 74 assists over eight Premier League seasons, including a joint-record 20 assists in the 2002/03 season.
