Walla! It was learned that in an evening conversation with MK Simcha Rotman from his party, Smutrich said, among other things: "We should not have voted in favor. At the beginning of the faction meeting, Smutrich referred to the deal in question yesterday, claiming that he supported the move. "The State of Israel is obligated by virtue of its sovereignty to deal with the civil affairs of Arab society," he said. "I do not see anything wrong with setting up a committee to deal with such matters and I do not see anything wrong with cooperating with its Arab representatives."

However, he clarified that he would not be prepared for the Arab representatives "to become legitimate partners in the government, because they are striving for a large Islamic state on the ruins of a Jewish state," and added that "whoever thinks there will be a liquidation sale here is wrong. Despite his remarks, Smutrich later criticized the move in a closed-door conversation with MK Rotman, saying he should not have supported the proposal.

Smutrich said in response that he "completely backs MK Rotman, his representative on the organizing committee, and is behind the moves that enabled the resumption of Knesset work, the presidency and the committees." With the party chairman "at every stage".
