2021-04-29T20:55:31.322Z

VERIFICATION - The controversy swells after the publication of a political text signed in particular by "twenty generals, a hundred high-ranking officers and more than a thousand other soldiers".

THE QUESTION

. "

Insurrection

", "

putsch

", "

coup

", ... The most radical qualifiers fly in squadron to qualify the platform published on April 21 in

Current values

under the title "

For a return of the honor of our rulers

”. Written on the initiative of Jean-Pierre Fabre-Bernadac, a former active officer and manager of the place-armes.fr site, the text was signed by "

about twenty generals, a hundred senior officers and more than one a thousand other soldiers

”. In fact, for the overwhelming majority of them, they would in all likelihood be former soldiers, the text referring toelsewhere their "

military state

" in the past.

Denouncing Islamogauchism, the retreat of patriotism, contempt for traditions, the disintegration of the homeland or the detachment of multiple plots of the nation, the forum undoubtedly marked on the right ends with this paragraph which crystallizes all the criticisms: "

If nothing is being done, laxity will continue to spread inexorably in society, ultimately causing an explosion and the intervention of our active comrades in a perilous mission of protecting our civilizational values and safeguarding our compatriots on the national territory

”.

The evocation of the intervention of their "

active comrades

" in this text published a few days before the sixtieth anniversary of the Algiers putsch (May 13, 1961) strongly made part of the political class react, in particular on the left. . Jean-Luc Mélenchon saw in it a "

call to insurrection

" contrary to the law. In 2018, the boss of rebellious France had however himself called for an insurrection, a "

right

" but also a "

duty

" he explained at the time ... The signatories declaring themselves "

willing to support the policies that will take into account consideration the safeguard of the nation

”, Marine Le Pen grabbed the ball. "

I invite you to join our action to take part in the battle which is opening (…) which is above all the battle for France

”, declared the president of the RN in a response published by the same weekly.

On April 25, the Minister of the Armed Forces, Florence Parly, first reacted in a political register: “

Two immutable principles guide the action of the military vis-à-vis politics: neutrality and loyalty.

(...) Marine Le Pen plays on a confusion that suits her: the irresponsible platform (...) is only signed by retired soldiers, who no longer have any function in our armies and only represent themselves

”.

But, the next day, on France Info, the minister slightly modified her speech, announcing sanctions: "

Retired generals are bound by a duty of reserve.

It is in the statute of the military.

[…] For soldiers who have violated the duty of reserve, sanctions are planned and if there are active soldiers among the signatories, I asked the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces to apply the rules which are provided for in the military statute, that is to say sanctions

”.

So what about?

Could the signatories be sanctioned?

Beyond disciplinary sanctions, could there be criminal sanctions?
