The chief executive election will be held next year. After the legislative amendment and the electoral reform, the new government team will become the focus.

Chen Zhisi, the convener of the Executive Council, who has been accused of being the "dark horse" of the chief executive in many elections in the past, said that the ideal condition for the chief executive is to gain the trust of the central government as well as the trust of the people of Hong Kong.

Chen Zhisi was asked about the ideal conditions of the chief executive when he was interviewed on the TVB program "Speaking of Pure Heart and Straightforward."

He said that the Chief Executive needs to be trusted by the Central Government and at the same time the people of Hong Kong must be trusted.

In addition, Chen believes that the chief executive needs to know how the government operates and therefore needs government work experience.

Emphasize that I have no interest in working full-time in the government

The host pointed out that Chen Zhisi had held many public positions and was accused of being the "dark horse" in the election of the chief executive. Chen emphasized that he has no interest in working full-time in the government and that he is very happy to serve as a government consultant, but admitted that there are not too many people with professional knowledge in Hong Kong. In the post of chief executive, even if there are such talents, the political polarization in the past has discouraged many people.

Therefore, Chen Zhisi hopes that after the system reform, these people of insight can be encouraged to enter the government.

Social issues involve many stakeholders and need to be dealt with jointly by all parties

Regarding the central government's move to revise Hong Kong's electoral system, Chen Zhisi said that electoral reform is necessary, and pointed out that facing the situation of the Legislative Council in the past few years, the government needs to "harden".

However, he said that in the 20 years since the reunification, long-term problems such as the settlement of the people still exist. The reform can deal with the situation in the Legislative Council, but he does not think that simply solving the chaos in the Legislative Council can solve other social problems.

Chen Zhisi pointed out that various social issues involve different interest groups. For example, housing issues involve land. There are many stakeholders, and all parties need to work together to deal with it.

Chen Zhisi also said that in the past, government policies were implemented slowly, and he believed that some people in the Legislative Council "opposed for the sake of opposition."

Chen said that the government will also have blind spots. Members of the next Legislative Council can still oppose the government's motions. They do not want them to support everything. "But accusing each other is not a solution to the problem." The government must also ensure that the proposed policies are fair and reasonable.
