President Alberto Fernández determined that the Minister of Public Works, Gabriel Katopodis, take over the Transportation portfolio on an interim basis after the tragic death of Mario Meoni.

Through

Decree 269/2021

published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette, the former mayor of San Martín was entrusted "temporarily with the signature and attention of the Ministry of Transport office".

The provisional designation of Katopodis, which was endorsed with the signatures of the president and the chief of staff, Santiago Cafiero, responds to article 10 of Decree No. 977/95, which provides that in the supposed case of temporary absence for any reason , "The secretary ministers will be replaced temporarily by the corresponding secretary minister, following the correlative order established in the enumeration made in the Law of Ministries."

Decree No. 7/19 that modified the Law of Ministries established the correlative order of the Secretary Ministers and established that the Public Works portfolio is the replacement of the signature of the head of the Ministry of Transportation.

Mario Meoni died on April 23 in a traffic accident in the Buenos Aires town of San Andrés de Giles, while he was traveling to his hometown, Junín.
