The full moon in April 2021 is called Pink Moon and was particularly bright in the night between April 26th and 27th. A special heavenly event.

The full moon in April 2021 is called Pink Moon and was particularly bright in the night between April 26th and 27th.

A special heavenly event.

Update from April 27, 8:16 p.m.:

The so-called Pink Moon can be seen particularly well in Germany today, Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

Because the moon is particularly close to the earth, it looks particularly large - like a super moon.

The best visibility of the Pink Moon was in the early hours of the morning at 5:33 a.m.

At 5:22 p.m., the moon reached its closest point of the year.

Not visible to people in Germany at that time.

But when the moon rises at 9:17 p.m., it is still close enough to the earth and particularly large to be seen.

Even if, strictly speaking, it is no longer a real full moon.

Nevertheless: if you missed the sky spectacle in the morning, you have another chance in the early evening.

Update from April 27th, 9:58 am:

A brighter and somewhat larger than usual-looking “super moon” fascinated observers nationwide on Tuesday night.

The "Pink Moon" could be seen because, on the one hand, the full moon was reached on Tuesday, and the moon came particularly close to the earth with only 357,380 kilometers.

Many people in Germany stayed up longer or got up earlier to see the natural spectacle.

They shared their pictures on social media.

A Twitter user caught the moon setting next to a church in the early hours of the morning.

“Not quite #PINKMOON but taken from the roof window,” he writes about his picture.

Other users were less fortunate to observe them and also share their experiences on Twitter.

"I stayed awake to see the Pink Moon, unfortunately it was too cloudy ...", writes a user with a picture of the sunrise.

“But the sky looks beautiful,” he adds.

Then it was worth staying awake after all.

Pink Moon over Germany: The next super moon will appear on May 26th

it has become light in Germany, the moon is no longer visible in many places.

But if you missed the natural spectacle, you don't have to be sad.

The next super moon will already shine over Germany on May 26th - then under the name “Flower Moon”.

Update from April 27, 5:35 a.m .:

The Pink Moon is now best seen over Germany.

It is now around 357,310 kilometers near the earth - instead of the usual 384,400 kilometers on average.

The full moon phase will be reached on April 27, 2021 at around 5:30 a.m.

Around 7 o'clock the moon sets in the west.

Update from April 26th, 9:50 p.m

.: If you get up very early on Tuesday morning, it is worth taking a look at the sky.

Because around 5.30 the super moon "Pink Moon" can be seen particularly well.

It is one of two super moons in the year 2021. The name of the full moon is sometimes a bit misleading, because the pink moon shines less on Tuesday morning.

Nevertheless, it is worth taking a look out of the window, because the moon shines particularly large and bright, which is due to the fact that it is closer to the earth than usual (

see first report

).

In case you miss the Pink Moon, your next chance at the Super Moon will be in a month's time.

On May 26th the Flower Moon shines, in other words flower moon over the firmament.

Pink Moon in Germany: Pink moon creates a spectacle in the sky

First report from April 26th

: Munich - In the night from Monday, April 26th to Tuesday, April 27th, 2021 a very special event awaits us in the night sky.

The so-called "Pink Moon" can be seen.

It is the first of only two super moons in 2021.

Overall, the moon appears to be circular for three days - from Sunday evening to Wednesday morning.

But the moon is really full on Tuesday morning around 5.30 a.m.,

wetter.de

reports.

Because the moon is particularly close to us at the moment, it is not only larger from the earth, but we can also see the full moon shine particularly brightly that night.

That is why one speaks of a so-called super moon.

So fans of heavenly events should set an early alarm clock.

But then you have a good chance of getting a clear view of the "Pink Moon".

Clear skies are the order of the day in large parts of Germany.

However, it should also be correspondingly cold.

Pink Moon over Germany: The meaning of the pink moon is controversial

The "Pink Moon" does not really shine pink *.

As is so often the case, there are several stories about the origin of the name.

Most common, however, is that the Native Americans gave the full moon this name in April because that is when the phlox flower blooms and it is pink.

There are also different interpretations of the meaning of the “Pink Moon”.

The natives of North America are said to have seen it as a sign of renewal and rebirth.

Accordingly, the blooming of flowers was associated with the celestial phenomenon, as

reported by

the English

Sun.

Others, however, saw the "Pink Moon" as a bad omen that foretold the end of the world.

The second super moon in 2021 awaits us in Germany on May 26th.

Then the moon is particularly close to the earth again.

This super moon is also called "Flower Moon".

In addition to the super moon, the lyrids also provide spectacles in the sky in April.
