Russia and France called for a summit meeting of the five permanent members of the Security Council as soon as possible to discuss a number of pressing regional and international issues and disputes.
TASS quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement after a meeting in Paris between the Russian Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, and Patrick Dorell, French President Emmanuel Macron's advisor to the Middle East and North Africa, that “In the wake of the talks, it was confirmed that Russia and France, as members, are members. Permanent members of the UN Security Council have a special role and responsibility in settling regional crises, ”explaining that it was agreed to continue contacts and constructive cooperation between the two countries on issues of the time on the international agenda.
The statement indicated that the two sides exchanged in detail the situation in the Middle East, and special attention was paid to the situation in Syria, Libya, Lebanon and the Palestinian territories.
