Konstantin Troevtsev, professor at the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies at the Russian Oriental Institute, affirmed that the presidential elections scheduled for next May 26 is a continuation of the achievements Syria has made on the road to reconstruction and development.
Troevtsev said in an interview with a SANA correspondent in Moscow today that holding the presidential elections is also dictated by the concern for the implementation of the constitution and within the legal dates.
The Russian researcher stressed that the actions of Western countries, primarily the United States, aimed at undermining the legitimate authorities in countries that refuse to submit to their plans, such as Syria and Belarus, as we are currently witnessing, are doomed to failure and have practically bankrupted because the peoples support their legally elected leaders in the conduct of free and fair elections.
