The spring season brings with it a new generation of wildlife puppies in the wild, many of whom are losing their parents and are in a health condition that needs treatment.

In Israel, one of these animals is the hedgehog.

Now, at the Safari Wildlife Hospital in Ramat Gan, they are looking for volunteers to take care of the hedgehog puppies.

The hospital points out that this is not an easy task at all, since the hedgehog puppies need care every two hours, which includes feeding and then cleaning the hedgehog and the puppies' cells.

Safari and the Nature and Parks Authority have reported an increase in recent years in the number of animals in need of care, which come to the wildlife hospital.

In the case of hedgehogs, the mother sometimes goes out to look for food and if she lingers, the puppies go out to look.

The recommendation of the Wildlife Hospital is to wait and see if the mother is back.

If she does not return for a long time, you should move them away and bring them to the hospital.

Hundreds are in a health condition that needs treatment.

In most cases the animals are collected by citizens and come to receive treatment at the wildlife hospital, until the medical staff decides that the wild animal can be released back into the wild.

"Because in recent years the number of puppies and chicks has been growing all the time, we need more help," Safari said.

Sagit Horowitz, a spokeswoman for the safari, said that "during this period hundreds of hedgehog cubs come to the hospital to be taken by civilians for treatment. To the hospital, but you have to wait and bring them only if the mother does not return to forgiveness. "

Efrin Bonstein, deputy chief caretaker at Wildlife Hospital, told Walla!

"It looks awfully cute and nice to feed a hedgehog, but it's not always that simple. It takes a lot of patience and not just patience, also accuracy. We are looking for volunteers who can give the hedgehogs what they need."

Haim Schwarzberg, a volunteer at the Wildlife Hospital, said that "when you consider that in the last twenty years the wildlife population has shrunk by more than 60% in the world, then if nothing is done - very quickly only people are left."
