The old American food magazine Epicurious announced this week that it intends to stop publishing recipes that include beef, due to the desire to reduce the use of this type of meat, whose growth is a significant factor in the emission of many substances that affect the global warming effect.

According to the magazine, using beef is "one of the worst ways to harm the environment. While it may not seem like a big move, it can have significant effects on the greenhouse effect and the creation of environmentally friendly cooking recipes."

A statement from the magazine also said that 15% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions come from livestock-related crops.

It added that "out of the emissions of the live crops sector, the beef or dairy industry sector is responsible for 65% of the gases for emissions, so avoiding beef consumption will reduce the pollution rate caused by this sector."

The magazine's editor, Maggie Hoffman, and Epicurius' former digital director, David Tamarkin, noted that such recipes will no longer appear on any of the magazine's platforms - neither on the site's home page, nor on the Instagram page, nor on the magazine itself.

This is not the first time that Epicurus has addressed the issue, as the magazine has already decided in 2019 to reduce the advertising rate of recipes that include beef.

However, all the meat recipes that have come up on the site over the years will not get off it.

Hoffman and Tamarkin, who are trying to move in a greener direction and offered readers recipes that include meat substitutes, wanted to emphasize that "every time they gave a meat substitute, traffic on the site went up - and that shows Americans are actually looking for such substitutes. For the planet. "
