Damascus-Sana
The Arab Writers Union condemned the crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, stressing that the popular uprising in Jerusalem against the occupation is a victory for the dignity of oppressed peoples.
In a statement, which SANA received today, the federation called on all Arab federations, unions, associations and families to hold protests against the arbitrary practices of the occupation and hold intellectual and literary seminars in solidarity to affirm the rights of the Palestinian people.
"Once again, the Palestinian people affirm their rejection of all occupation attempts to desecrate Christian and Islamic sanctities and change their features, through the escalating popular uprising in the face of the brutal Zionist force and the arbitrary measures against it," the statement said.
The Union expressed its hope that the popular uprising would spread to all occupied Arab lands and that Arab solidarity with it would be comprehensive, stressing the duty of intellectuals, writers and writers to stand by their fellow fighters in Palestine and the forces of resistance.
